Has anyone tried ovulation sticks?
Answer:
How long are your cycles normally? You have ovulated prior to cycle day 14. Also do you take the test around the same time each day? This is quite important as the surge only usually lasts for 24 hours. So if you test Monday at noon and then Tuesday you don't test until 6pm, you could have very well missed the surge.
I buy cheap Ovulation sticks online, in bulk. i test at the same time each day and when I think I am getting close to Ovulation, I will test twice a day.
Hi! Yeah i tried them, I suffer from polycystic ovaries and was worried about concieving, I did those tests every day for a month and they all said I was not ovulating!! However I became pregnant after just six wks of trying! It is very hard to know when you have irregular cycles etc, the mucus test (yuk) is meant to be good, look on line for details. good luck!
I use something similar which doesnt always detect ovulation either. If you learn how your body is around ovulation I find it much easier & more reliable. Your discharge becomes slimey like raw egg white, you are more 'wet' down below because of this, your temperature rises or dips & then rises (use a digital thermometre & test each day, same time before getting out of bed), check position of your cervix when you are ovulating it will be high & soft (it is easier to detect change by feeling for it before & after ovulation when it is hard & low & feels like touching the tip of your nose, then you can note change) it is harder to reach when ovulation occurs. Sorry this wasnt quite all to do with the ovulation sticks but I really hope it helps you out! x
I had trouble knowing when I'm fertile because my cycle were so irregular. Then I saw in a magazine a microscope thing that you can buy and then you put a little bit of spit on the glass and then it shows when you are fertile. It really works and it's not expensive. That's what I've used when I got pregnant! I bought mine at the chemist. Can't remember the name but it's something like ovuscope.
Pinpointing your ovulation day is fairly simple and you don't need to spend money on ovulation kits as your body will tell you what is going on for free!
Take your temperature when you wake up every morning. It will rise when you ovulate (12-16 days before your next period). To give you some idea my temp. rises from 36.4 or 5 to 36.7 degrees. Once released your egg remains viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours.
Also keep an eye on your mucus. It will become clear and stretchy like egg white as you approach ovulation. Sperm can surivie for up to 5 days in this more fertile mucus.
When trying to conceive it is recommended that you have intercourse every other day during the week before your temperature rises and then for a day or two after.
The Couple to Couple League run classes and also offer an excellent home study course which I can highly recommend if you want to learn more about your body's fertility pattern and charting your cycle.
Lastly, make sure you are taking prenatal vitamins and relax - stress delays ovulation. I wish you all the best in trying for a baby.
you may be testing too late. I guide that came with my ovulation sticks said that for a 28 day cycle I should ovulate on day 11.
Strange but true - I'm pregnant again!!
