Are there any pregnancy success stories of women suffering from PCOS that are taking metformin and Clomid?
How long did it take people who were successful?
Answer:
my personal experience: 6 cycles of clomid is enough. If you haven't got pregnant by then, tell your doctor to move on and start trying other stuff like pergonal injections. It worked for me, got pregnant the third time!
I was prescribed Tamoxifen once and got pregnant the first try, unfortunately I miscarried (second pregnancy). Tamoxifen is a medication prescribed to post-menopausal women with breast cancer. Now there is Femara (kind of same thing), both medications have a positive effect in women with PCOS, they help to ovulate.
Talk to your doctor, he can tell you if Femara is right for you!
I was only on clomiphene, but I conceived on the 3rd cycle. You'll get there. Good Luck.
I have a friend who was on both for the same reason. Took her almost a year, but she's now in her second trimester, healthy and ecstatic. I had different issues, so I understand the "this is never gonna happen" anxiety all too well. It will. Hang in there.
I have PCOS, however not a severe case. I am not insulin resistant or anything like that. I started Metfromin 1500mg a day this May, I took a round of Clomid in August, hated the side effects so I skipped a month to go on a vacation and the month a skipped I got pregnant. The metformin takes at about 6 months to even get in your system enough to work. After being on it for 4 months my cycle length went down from 70days long to about 35 days, big improvement.
I felt the same way like I would never get pregnant and I am now 18 weeks and everything is going great. Good luck to you and make sure you use ovulation test stips..they are very important when you have PCOS.
I have PCOS..tried to get pregnant for 3yrs before I was diagnosed with it.
I did 5 rounds of Clomid (from Sept 05 to Jan 06). I was diagnosed with PCOS in Feb 06 and started Metformin that month.I also got pregnant that month and now have a 7wk old baby girl!
I got pregnant with our son without trying 4yrs ago, even though I had PCOS...concieving him without meds was a miracle my dr's said.
