We do expectant mothers say "we are pregnant"...?
Answer:
LOL! They should say "we are expecting" since dad is also excitedly awaiting the arrival of the child as well. To say "we are pregnant" is inaccurate and rediculous though.
because the TWO of you have made this child together, it is nice to include dad!!
Yeah I haven't seen any pregnant blokes waddling around for a while either. Maybe they use that term so the man feels more included.
here,here
Ultimately, both mom and dad will be caring for the little one when it arrives, so I think it certainly is a "we" and not an "I". It definitely takes two to make a baby!
It took TWO to make the baby!
Two is not I
it is WE
It's just an attempt to include the dad, to make men feel like they're part of pregnancy. I'd like to think that a man doesn't have to call himself pregnant to be involved with his partner's pregnancy, but I'm going against the current trend here.
Since "pregnant" describes what is physically happening to a woman, this "we're pregnant" thing bugs me, too. Why not say "we're expecting"?
i just posted this question a few weeks ago!! lol
i totally agree...i find it really annoying!!.i think that is giving waaay too much credit to a man...he had to do very little "work" to make that baby..i'm with you...until i see a pregnant man, there is no "we"
Well you say we are trying right, so I guess we are pregnant is just moving forward with the we... there would be one child per family if men got pregnant
Because in a loving relationship the man goes through most of the same things as you do, maybe not the obvious physical symptoms but he is there when the decision is made, he is there every month to console you when you are upset by the negative test and he is there to share the overwhelming excitement when that little line shows up purple. He holds back your hair during the morning sickness, runs to the store in the middle of the night to satisfy your chocolate craving, takes birthing classes with you, shares the joy of your first ultra sound, tells you your beautiful when gain lots of weight, kisses your stretch marks and assures you that your still beautiful, puts up with your crazy hormones and mood swings, cleans the couch after your water breaks in the lounge room, holds you hand and gives you strength to get through contractions and hands you that beautiful breath taking bundle of joy at the end of it all. so i think he deserves a little of the credit.don't you?
