Irregular Periods and CLOMID?
Answer:
Your Dr. says it's o.k. for you to bleed for 20 days? Wow, I've never heard of that. You should try to get another opinion on that. Well, I have irregular periods also and my Dr. recommends that I try to get my cycles regulated before clomid. What worked for me? I started taking Vitex (an herbal supplement capsule that help regulates periods). It can be purchased from an herbal store or GNC. store. It worked wonders. Thus far, my periods has been coming as they should.

I've never heard of a 20 day period as normal, but if your doc says you're okay, then I would trust him/her for now. I don't think it matters if your cycle is irregular when you are on Clomid because Clomid helps you to ovulate. I've never heard of anyone taking Clomid for 6 days, it's usually 5. I've taken it from either days 3-7 or days 4-8 of my cycle. Clomid can thin your lining, so it might actually make you stop bleeding earlier. However, if you have been bleeding that long, you might want to suggest taking Estrace (estrogen) and Prometrium (progesterone) to your Dr., in addition to the Clomid. My uterus lining doesn't get thick enough to sustain a pregnancy so my OB gives me Estrace to take for 5 days immediately following the Clomid to help build my lining. I then take Prometrium from day 16 of my cycle until the end of my cycle, or until the end of my first trimester if I get pregnant. I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy, but after given the Estrace & Prometrium, I conceived again and had a full-term healthy baby girl. Best of luck to you.
You need a new doctor. It is not normal to have a 20 day period, nor is it ok to be on clomid with a period so messed up. You need to be on a semi-normal cycle (28-35 days for the whole period, not 20 days of bleeding). Your dr is obviously clueless and careless with your health...please get a new dr as soon as you can and dont take the clomid until you get a 2nd opinion. Clomid is a very powerful drug and if your cycles are that intense it can screw you up royally.
