Is the day of ovulation too late?
If we have sex the when he gets back and I've already ovulated, will it be too late? I've heard that once you've ovulate it's too late, that you have to have sex the few days before. The last time we did it was Monday morning. I know sperm lives for three to five days, so I'm just hoping he caught my fertile window.
Any thoughts or experience with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm making myself a little nuts here trying to figure out when I ovulate and also the fact that he's out of town and we are missing opportunities.
Answer:
The thing with that is that your Ovulation day is just a date that is given to you but it doesn't mean that its a definite date. Its an estimated date so you can ovulate on that day or before or after that date. If you had sex on the same day that you are supposed to ovulate and you did ovulate that day then chances are that you might not conceive because the sperm had to be in the cervix for at least 12 hours before it is "mature" enough to fertilize the egg and the egg will only be available for conception for about 12 to 24hrs which is why its suggested that you have sex at least 3 days before your expected "O" day. Now if you didn't "O" that day and you "O"'d the day after than you might have a chance.
I would do it like this...If I'm supposed to "O' on the 17th i would a have sex everyday starting the 15th up until the 20 ans this way i have my grounds covered. Personally those Estimated dates don't work for me. I take my temps to confirm that i did "O" or not. I always "O" about three to four days after the estimated "O" day that these things give me. Good Luck!
I read that you can still get pregnant if you BD a few days after your anticipated ovulation time.
Remember that normal couples take up to a year to conceive so don't start to stress already. It's way to early for that. Especially if you just got off of the pill it will take a few months for your body to adjust and start a regular cycle. Good Luck!!
