3 miscarriages - what next?

I have had 3 miscarriages - at 28weeks, 24 weeks and the latest just after Xmas 2006 - i had pre-eclampsia with the first pregnancy, lost ammnotic fluid with the second and my cervix opened up with the third - all different scenarios - totally unrelated. Has anyone heard of such experiences and has there been any success stories out there? I really need to hear that there is hope out there...i would love to have a child but am terrified to try again

I wanted to answer this instead of my husband as I can totally relate to you, I have 3 beautiful babys in heaven after having alot of problems in pregnancies however I do have a message of hope for you as I am now due a baby boy in 3kws. I wont lie to you through my whole pegnancy I have been worried sick and every day has felt like a lifetime but I have got through it with positive thinking and support. I suggest that you make an appointment to see your gp, explain that your wanting another baby but because of your previous problem your very anxious and worried. They will be able to talk things through with you and advise you on what help they can maybe offer. If you do decide to have another baby, insist that you get alot of check ups etc, I have been seen every 2wks with this pregnancy because of my history but I had to ask for this. I am not sure about your feelings on this but I felt guilty about having another baby and didnt want people to think that I had forgotten about my baby angels so I had some counselling which really helped me find ways to cope. Like you, nothing will replace your lost babies but it doesnt make you a bad person by wanting another child. I have set up an online memorial for my babies at www.gonetosoon.co.uk and this has been a great comfort for me. It may also be helpful for you. I wish you all the luck in the world and am sure that in time you will have a beautiful healthy baby to look after forever.
Check out the boards over at ivillage. When I had my miscarriage I found them very helpful. They have one for TTC after miscarriage and many supportive women who have their own similar stories.

I am so sorry for your losses and pray that you will be able to hold a healthy baby!
i havent heard any one having the same as you but are your doctors not going to investigate it anyway b/c youve had 3. im so sorry it must be horrific to have gone thought all of that and be so desperate to have a baby but be so scared to try again, i hope you final get what you want b/c you deserve it. good luck!xxxxx
hi Ive had two m/c totally unrealated. I have heard of people have 5 or 6 before finally having a healthy baby , unfortunatly it is more common than we think .. www.pamsupport.org helped me it is for pregnancy after m/c you can talk about all your concerns with women that are in the same boat. I am sorry for your losses and I wish you the best of luck . =O)
So sorry for your loss. Have you thought of adopting? If you are using the same method and getiing the same results, it might be time to start something new.
It doesn't have to be legal, just take care of someone, maybe a family member who is less advantaged than you are, things might change for the better. Good luck.
Oh you poor wee soul I cannot imagine what it must be like for you and you have my deepest sympathy for all the trauma you have suffered.

Have you received any counselling as I think that ought to be your first step so that you can talk freely to someone about how you are feeling, before attempting to get pregnant again.

Also your diet is very important especially folic acid in your diet, which is found in lots of green vegetables especially garden peas. Talk to a nutritionalist about your daily diet.

I wish you well and look after yourself and watch your weight as this can also be a factor in miscarriages due to high blood pressure caused by weight gain.
i really feel for you, that must be so hard. I had a miscarriage last year and i can only imagine how it must make you worry every time. I am sure that you will conceive again soon. Do you have specialist care looking after you? have you been for any tests? good luck to you x

I've just spoken to my colleague and she's said that her mums friend has seven, and conceived the 8th time, the baby was fine! x
hi hun, im so sorry i cant quite believe what you've been through, i know this might sound strange but do you know the sexes of all 3 babies? i have had 2 miscarriages due to the fact i cant carry girls, its worth enquiring into whether this is a possibility, if not least to put your mind at ease. There is hope for you, i have family members who have had miscarriage after miscarriage and now have a family so never give up hope. i wish you all the luck in the world, you are very brave xxxx
i can understand that your terrified to try again, its scary enough going through pregancy as it is with all the worries. Because you know the reasons you did miscarry and they were all unrelated it sounds like you have just had really bad luck. My friend miscarried 3 times because of her cervix opening and she had it stitched shut with her fourth pregnancy and ended up giving birth to a healthy baby boy, (6 weeks early but perfect!) so maybe you could suggest this to your doctor, it worked for her! good luck x
I cannot suggest enough to find a good Classical Homeopath. Your events are not unrelated at all. And yes there is hope!
Sorry for your losses. What does your ob dr say about this? They are the experts and are the ones that should be consulted. If he cant give you an answer, find one who can. Good luck.
I am so sorry for your loss, I miscarried 3 times as well, and I had to "find out" what the reason was for me not being able to carry a child. For several reasons, I had to make a decision, because, what I really wanted was to be a parent.

I am now a waiting parent and chose adoption as my option for raising children.

It is not for everyone. There may be some reasons that can be corrected, ask your doctor, and then get second opinions as well. I wish you luck, and I can totally understand you being terrified to try again.
