How do you tell how many weeks pregnant you are?

I'm 5 days late and still am getting neg pregnancy tests. I was on here reading how late people really were when they got there first positive and was suprised people were saying more than 8 weeks pregnant. Everyone keeps saying "i was six weeks pregnant, or i was 10 weeks pregnant"...I'm confusing myself because I'm thinking "weeks late" not "weeks pregnant". So if if I was pregnant right now, and my last period was Nov 14, how many weeks would I be?

Answer:
You count the weeks from the start of your last period. So basically you get 2 weeks free (from the start of your period to ovulation) but that's how it is counted. In fact, they say that we take around 40 weeks to gestate a baby but actually it is around 38 because the first 2 weeks (that are counted) you really aren't pregnant.

Nov.14 - Dec 18 is 5 weeks pregnant (but your fetus is only 3 weeks along)

It depends on when you got pregnant. Do you know? Do you know when you were ovulating?
You count from the first day of your last period - so you would be 5 weeks today (being the 19th November).

Remembering that most women do not know exactly when they conceived your doctor/OBE will calculate the weeks from the first day of the your last period - hence the 40 weeks.

For example: the first day of my last period was 16th November - the due date is August 23rd.
3 to 5 weeks pregnant. give or take 2 weeks.
8 weeks - some people can't count!! LOL! YOU would be about 2weeks and five days- considering you ovulate mid cycle-- D
