When will the days start to get longer?

Day lite is really short during the winter. When can we expect days to start getting longer?

december 22nd (i think, could be the 21st) is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. after that, the days start to get longer.

the opposite is in june when the longest day happens, and then start to progressively shorten.
