Has anyone gotten pregnant even getting stressed about it?
Answer:
I think your friends have the "watched pot never boils" sentiment in mind. Loads of women get pregnant, no matter their state of mind. But the ones who really want it seem to take longer just because they want it so much.
It will happen when it happens. I know that's not a great piece of wisdom. But set yourself up as though you were going to get pregnant this month: take your vitamins, get plenty of rest, relax, eat nutritious meals...it will happen; be patient.
Of course you can get pregnant even when you are stressing about it. It is hard not to stress. You never realize how long 2 weeks can be until you are going thru this process! The best thing to do is to try not to make your "baby making times" into a chore. Keep it fun and interesting.
If you divide the number of unplanned pregnancies in history by all of the states of mind that people are capable of, then there must be a high percentage of women who conceived under a great amount of stress. I'm sure that if you are so anxious that your hormones are being suppressed, then you need to worry about your health overall, but just being worried about if you are going to conceive is no real obstacle to getting pregnant. However, making a family and all the things leading up to it should be fun and exciting. Don't let that escape from you in your quest to "get it over with". Have a good time, be romantic, enjoy doing it as often as you can with the excuse that more often means better results, and be kind to yourself.
If you find that nothing is working, see an OB/GYN to discuss possible fertility tests for both you and your husband and to obtain a kit by which you can measure your periods of highest fertility and thus make sure that you and your husband get down to busness at least during those times.
It's a shame that wanting or not wanting to get pregnant aren't ways of making sure, because it seems always to be the opposite--if you want, it takes forever; if you don't want, it happens even before the sex.
Good luck!
