Does the rhythem method really work to prevent pregnancy? My friend swears by it.?

It does not work if you use it WITHOUT a condom.
From what you've described, they're using a condom anyway, so it's not really the rhythm method all on its own. They're using the barrier method (condom). Please do not use the rhythm method alone if you don't want to get pregnant.
If you use a condom, you don't have to pull out-- thats that the condom's for-- to catch all the semen and not let it into you. Do pull out carefully after ejaculation, though, so that the semen doesn't spill out.
It works as long as you don't miss a beat! lol Seriously...it's not a reliable method of birth control. My friend had 3 kids using this method. Talk to your doctor
Pulling out isn't always accurate since there are sperm in the pre ejaculation fluid..if she knows when she ovulates, and protects herself then it is probably a better method than pulling out..I'd say no, generally it doesn't work and she's lucky she hasn't gotten pregnant...
Yes...My husband and i have been using the withdrawl method for five years (without condoms though) and i haven't gotten pregnant yet.
But in 2005 i did get pregnant but i was wanting too and the first time he left it in i became pregnant but miscarried at 5 weeks. I have not gotten pregnant though by using the PULL & PRAY METHOD! (lol)
I believe that if a man knows exactly when to pull out then it will work and i believe my husband is a master at it.
Honestly, I have 4 children and 2 of them are rhythm children, but we didn't use a condom. Rhythm doesn't work because sperm can stay alive up to 5 days and your egg can be alive in your ovary for a few days as well. That really lenghtens the period that you can get pregnant. I have 2 rhythm babies.
No. I know a lot of children who are products of the rhythm method. Don't take that chance.
So far Id say yes but I also do it a litle difrently I have what is called cycle beads They are a visual aids to the rytem methond. Read more on it befoe you try it It wont work on every one. My husband and I have used the cycle beads for almost a year and I havent gotten prgnant yet. But insted of only a few days you cant have sex Its like twelve you cant. you also have to have a regular 28 day cycle. Im married so if I get pregnant its not that big a deal anymore My twins are almost one now. If you dont want the chance of a baby you need to use normal birth control. I only use the rytem method because of religious reasons. Also unless you are in a comited relationship. any you also had a Std test dont ditch The condoms
