I need your comments, opinions, ideas and advices on this.?

I have never taken regular pills as means of contraception and considering to start taking pills. Some people told me that I will become more overweight if i take the pills. I just want to know if this things were true like it will make me fat. How guaranteed is the pills that you will not get pregnant if you take this. And any advises w/c pills and how to take these pills. Thanks.

Answer:
it really depends on what kind of pill you take. Progesterone and Oestrogen are the active ingredience in the Contraceptive Pill. You need to speak to your doctor about which pill you feel will suit your needs, ie: is for contraception, for your skin (eg pimples etc;) is for painful periods or all of the above. When you first start taking the pill it's a bit of trial and error.

I was on the pill for about 10 years and I never gained weight.

With regards to falling pregnant, if you take your pill at the same time everyday you should be pretty much covered, but there is no sure fire way to not fall pregnant and have sex.

Have a long chat with your doctor. Tell him/her your concerns and make sure that you have a pap smear every 2 years if your already sexually active.

GOOD LUCK
I have always been slender. The first week after taking the pill, I had a sudden noticeable weight gain and I never gain weight. I can eat junk all day and not gain an ounce. Once I stopped taking the pill, it was alot for me to lose that extra 5-7lbs. If you are worried about the weight, then find a different method of birth control, because you will gain weight.
I've heard you gain weight with the pill but it really all depends on your body. I'm not sure how effective the pill is because I've never been on it, but I would suggest using the depo shot. You only get it once every 3 months, and it's over 99% effective, AND with some ppl (like me) you don't even get your period. With the pill, you gotta remember every single day to take it.. with the shot, it's just 4 times a year. I was on the shot for 4 years and it was great. I didn't have to worry about anything.
Why pills? There are so many methods now.
Yes, being on the pill can precipitate a weight gain. There are more serious side effects, though, which can affect you now, and with future fertility. These must be thoroughly discussed with your doctor. The pill is not 100 percent effective against pregnancy, and not at all against STDs.
