Which is cheaper? getting tubes untied or invitro?
Answer:
My husband and I are in the same situation.
Recently we went to a fertility clinic who explained the average cost of both.
A tubal reversal, can cost upwards of 7000$(US) after paying all medical costs and testing, be aware, most OBGYNs won't agree to a reversal until they test you and your significant other to make sure you can conceive.
IVF can cost upwards of 20,000$ ( US)
again there are many steps and procedures to follow for this, and it may be quite straining on your relationship.
Tubal (depending on your case) has a less chance of conception, and usually has the same or similar pain to reverse as you had to do the initial procedure.
IVF I think for me the toughest part to go through was the HSG test (hurts quite a bit even with "freezing")
with IVF however, (after doing the initial tests and depending on how well you produce eggs) you can do what they call a "joint donor program"
This should reduce the cost to an average (pls don't quote me each place is different) of about 4000$ (give or take) and has a slightly higher chance of conception.
Keep in mind whichever way you go, both are invasive proceedures and conception doesn't always mean a guaranteed pregnancy & baby.
Good luck to you!
feel free to email me questions/comments
IVF is 50/50 that a pregnancy will result, and it is much more expensive.
$24000 approx
Tube reversal? I dont know how successful that is, or the chances of pregnancy after procedure.
The cost is significantly less, however.
tubes untied is cheaper.
Good luck

I have info for you on a very wonderful doctor that specializes in untieing womens tubes. I know 5 people that went to him (friends/family) and had the procedure and were all pregnant within a year.
He has a payment plan also. Just check him out. What do you have to lose? You might just decide to go to him.
His name is Dr. Richard Levin and his website is at http://www.babies-by-levin.com
Good luck and keep me posted if you decide on this doctor!
When we went through infertility treatments at the end of last year, IVF was around $10k and our insurance would cover half, making our cost around $5k. A friend of mine is 34 and looking into getting a tubal reversal, and the same doctor would charge her just under $5k, I'm not sure how much insurance would cover on that. And if you work for a large company, they may help with some of the cost. My husband works for a large international manufacturing company and they would help defray up to half of our out-of-pocket cost up to $5k.
Good luck!
