Is it normal to bleed a little after a straight forward smear?

Had a smear done the other day and experienced spots of blood after the procedure only lasted a few hours. I am a little concerned coz never bled before after a smear and wondered if it was a sign of anything else. I am at the moment ttc

Answer:
It does happen on occasion, sometimes if your health care provider is a little firm when taking the sample it can irritate things, and at some points in the menstrual cycle the cervix is more tender than others. I find if I schedule my test too close to just before my period, I'm more prone to a bit of bleeding than if I schedule it a little after.
I don't think so maybe your doc was a little to hard when he was doing the smear, I hope that you can get pregnant soon..
Don't be concerned. It's normal...the same thing happened to me last week, and I checked.
Yea, it's normal. Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't, either way just little spotting is nothing to worry about.
It is completely normal and doesn't indicate pregnancy. Think about it someone scraps the cervix, its going to bleed a little. If you were pregnant it wouldn't have affected the baby but doesn't by an means mean you are pregnant.
Very normal...happens to me as well!
It could be pregnancy, cervix tend to be more circulated with blood and softer during smears.
Yes! That's very normal! You're healthy, you're okay.
