Do you think someone can be too overweight to get pregnant?

I have a friend who weighs over 200 pounds and is trying for another baby. She doesn't seem to weigh that much and is very active but still is this okay on her body and the baby? Or if she takes care of herself during pregnancy will she be okay?

Answer:
Too overweight.. possibly? It's nothing that medication can't help though!

The reason it's harder for overweight women to get pregnant is because they have excess estrogen and a greater chance of polycystic ovaries.

Remember, fat cells PRODUCE estrogen and if you get too much estrogen then your body reacts as if it is on birth control.

Hope this helps!
You can still conceive a baby when you are overweight but all of the books suggest you get closest to your ideal weight (i.e not overweight or underweight) when trying to conceive as it increases your chances of conception. It is also a good idea to try and get closer to your ideal weight as it will be healther for you and your baby because you are eating right and exercising.

If she can fall pregnant at her current weight she should just try and be as healthy as possible during her pregnancy. BUT they do not recommend crash dieting whilst pregnant.
I think, if you read about it, that overweight women have a harder time getting pregnant. Other wise I don't think it matters, except she would have to watch for high blood pressure and maybe diabetes Delivery is harder on heavy women, too.
