I havnt been able to get the 2,300 cal a day. Will that effect the baby?

I am 12 weeks. I finally have been able to start taking the prenatal vitamins. Even the prescription ones wouldnt stay down before. The Morning sickness is starting to subside. Yesterday i got 1,400 calories down. By not eating the 2,300 will that effect the baby

Answer:
I think you are pretty safe if you are in the first trimester, as it's pretty common for women to experience "morning" sickness. Just do the best you can. Have you talked to your doctor about a drink supplement like Ensure or Boost? They help you get the nutrients you need and they have a decent amount of calories and many flavors if you're doing better with liquids. My doctor never told me to eat more calories, he just told me to try and eat more calcium rich foods, eat small meals often for nausea, and eat healthy foods. Women have been having babies and experiencing pregnancy symptoms long before pre-natal vitamins and all the trimmings, so try not to worry about what you missed, and keep doing the best you can!
Absolutely not. I have 3 kids and they were all extremely healthy at birth. I have 2 girls at 9.9 and a boy at 7.13 (a month early). You should always talk to your Dr. about your problem though.
Yes, it can affect the baby if you were to continue on the restricted caloric intake. Just continue to try and get more calories into yourself. Eat sensibly and healthy. Use Tums, they help settle the stomach, they were a staple during my pregnancy.
Why do you think you have to take in 2300 calories?? Is that what your Dr. has you doing?
I didn't worry about how many calories I was taking in when I was pregnant, I just tried to eat when I was hungry like little meals throughout the day to curb the sickness. I believe if you put more effort into eating a more balanced meal with great stuff then you will be more happier than trying to worry about calorie intake. It is "what" you take in, not just how much you take it. That little baby gets all those nutrients. Remember to always ask your Dr. for advice. CONGRATS>
No, I think your baby is fine. A lot of women can't even eat as normal as they did before they got pregnant in the first trimester. Then when the second tri comes things get back to normal and you'll be able to eat a lot more than before you were pregnant. Just try to take your vitamin each day, drink plenty of water and eat when you're hungry. If you can't eat whatever meal it is at the time of the day, try something small that can sit in your stomach easy. That way you're getting something. Trust me, before you know it you will feel like you just can't get full and then you'll be asking how to get full and stay full while pregnant. Your baby is fine. You'll be fine too.
